Who is Yasamin Shaikhi?
Over the past 5 years, Yasamin has dove into gathering insight in design approaches, obstacles, and solutions by attending world renowned and international conferences and such as the ILAD Enlighten conference and the World Architecture Festival alongside attendees such as the late Zaha Hadid. By being an active member in the design community and applying those lessons into her own designs, Yasamin has achieved an honorable mention from the IIDA as well as a Design Excellence Award from AEB presented by Qatari architect and designer Ibrahim Jaidah. During her time in acquiring her BA of Fine Arts, Yasamin took the opportunity to study design in two dynamics, VCUQ Located in Qatar and VCU’s main campus located in the US. Learning in these two different design worlds has resulted in mastering the approach of designing spaces to best fit the users and site while maximizing functionality and design approaches.
Following her studies in Masters in Fine Arts in Design, Yasamin has expanded her skill set beyond interior design to product design. In addition to growing skills in mold making, casting, material formation, pottery and wood working.

VCUQ IDES Interior Design TA | January 2023 - Present
Assisting IDES Senior Studio professors in guiding senior students through their capstone senior projects as well as assisting in any departmental needs and/or projects.
Self employment | March 2022 - Present Completing design projects ranging from interiors, film sets, gallery installations, window displays and architectural conceptualization. Coordination with contractors and suppliers to ensure project completion at its best while providing detailed 2D and 3D packages as well as material, furniture and lighting selections.

Senior Designer
Being a company part of Regency Group Holding held the opportunity to work closely with developer Ibrahim Al Asmakh to explore designs for various projects from residential villas-towers to designing accommodation proposals and luxury resort designs. This provided an insight to how projects are conducted beyond just design and material selection.

Seeing out a project from conception to creation through plans, details, schedules, specification sheets, 3d visuals and issuing a full drawing package to contractors. Designing spaces to be cognizant of safety and functionality requirements while maintaining client requests and needs.
