Food Waste Renaissance
Food Waste Renaissance is a design research project that transforms two of the most commonly discarded food remnants in the region, date pits and cooked rice waste, into sculptural, functional objects. By developing biomaterials from these overlooked byproducts, the project explores how what is taken from the table can be brought back to the table in new forms.Blending material experimentation with cultural narrative, Food Waste Renaissance challenges the perception of waste as the end of a cycle. Instead, it repositions it as a beginning, reclaiming discarded matter as a site of value, memory, and potential. Through this work, waste becomes a medium for reflection on care, consumption, and renewal.
