Unearthed Memories

A captivating series of tiles that seamlessly weaves in tradition and innovation into a tapestry of commemoration. Inspired by the elegance of traditional blue Delft tiles, each tile in this series bears a distinctive Qatari twist. The intricate carvings on these tiles narrate poignant stories of lost memories, ranging from monuments to buildings, offering a profound homage to the past. The concept of carvings were inspired by the local Al Jassasiya rock carvings.

Crafted with precision using Jesmonite casted in a created silicone mold and 3D print, the project introduces a novel element – the infusion of local sand. In a poignant gesture, sand from the very vicinity of the monument or building depicted is embedded into the tile. This infusion not only provides a unique and tactile texture to the surface but also serves as a profound metaphor. These tiles go beyond being mere replicas; they become vessels that encapsulate the essence of lost memories, embedding them into our collective consciousness.
